This partnership bridges the gap between advanced space technology and ground-level meteorological applications. By synergizing BMSK's extensive network of automatic weather stations and domain expertise in Bihar's climatology with ISRO's satellite remote sensing capabilities, we have created a unified decision-support system for the state.
The initiative was formalized through a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involving BMSK, the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA), and SAC-ISRO, marking a significant milestone in utilizing space technology for governance.
Hosted on ISRO's VEDAS (Visualization of Earth Observation Data and Archival System) platform, BODHI serves as a specialized geoportal for the state of Bihar. It integrates multi-thematic geospatial datasets to support evidence-based decision-making.
Through this collaboration, BMSK and ISRO-SAC aim to empower the administration and people of Bihar with:
Early warning systems backed by satellite imagery to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
Data-driven tools to support sustainable development and resource management.
Bringing the benefits of India's space program directly to the grassroots level for the welfare of the common citizen.
